After paying that much for a pair of bookshelf speakers I better be able to say that they are great. And they are! I love the way they sound and love the base response from a smaller compact speaker. They look and perform fantastic in my family room where there really isn't room for a larger speaker. They're not from China so they cost a bit more but I think that's a plus. Can't beat German engineering. One thing though, I'm going to have to get used to not having speaker covers on them. I guess ElAC doesn't believe their speakers need covers, they're not included with purchase.

I tried the KEF LS50 Meta and the Elac Debut speakers but like these by far the best. I can't believe how great these sound for bookshelf speakers. I have a separate subwoofer but the bass with these speakers is so good that I don't really need it very much.

I've owned speakers from B&W, Focal, along with Elac and these speakers impressed from the first note, and to find a speaker with a Stereophile B rating for this price point, makes it a must hear if your looking for a bookshelf that makes you want to listen to all the music in your collection.

Required some break-in for me, but once they were, they sounded great. I use them on a large desktop area, near-field. Amazing clarity and sound stage with ample bass even at lower levels.

Good looking speakers with smooth response for all kinds of music. Good bass for the size with 12”-24” from the wall.

A gorgeous sound with incredible highs and mids. A sexy smooth sound with great bass firing using a downward port so being net to a wall is fine.

I bought these speakers because I needed some high-quality bookshelf speakers that were small, could be placed flexibly in a small room, and had decent low-frequency response. I am frankly shocked at how good these speakers sound at their size and price-point. Highs are very clearly expressed, and lows are clean and extended. The downward-firing ports makes placement so much easier, by making the frequency response of the speakers less sensitive to their distance from the wall. Just make sure that you place the tweeters close to ear-level, or you won't get optimal performance.
