We love it!
I am a teacher. I purchased Amelia Fang to read as a read aloud to my class. They loved it! Chapters usually ended with some sort of cliffhanger that would have my students begging for me to read one more chapter! It was very exciting to see both boys and girls engaged in the life of Amelia and her gang!

Fangtastic!
I liked the creative creature and food names. Though I'll admit that some of the foods described made me gag, but isn't that the fun if stories like this! And I really thought the prince needed a swift kick in the butt for how spoiled he was, and it was quite surprising when you learn what he really is! (I don't want to spoli it for those that haven't read it yet.) It was an easy and enjoyable afternoon read.

Spooktacular!
My 6 yr old daughter absolutely loved this book! We are SO on board in the Amelia Fang universe! Laura Ellen Anderson has created such a fascinating world with amazing spooky and colorful characters. It reads like a roller coaster ride of twists and adventures. Can't wait to read the others in this series. If you're a fan of Harry Potter, Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice and other fun spooky and magical worlds...get this!

A cute book
Amelia Fang and the Barbaric Ball is a cute but slightly silly book that I think young readers will enjoy!Amelia is a vampire and her parents always put on the Barbaric Ball. Amelia doesn't want to go because she is always bored as there are no kids, but this year the King is coming and bringing his boy. Amelia thinks this is going to be great till she meets prince Tangine and finds out what a spoiled brat he is and then he steals her pet pumpkin Squashy. Amelia and her friends Florence, a rare breed of Yeti and Grimaldi, a young grim reaper (who take care of small animal deaths), try to figure out how to get Squashy back.I really liked the story despite thinking sometimes it was over the top silly, but I know that kids will like it. It had silly food names, etc which I know they will love. It also has a good storyline and as Amelia learns more about Tangine she comes to understand why he acts the way he does not that it excuses him but it's easier to try and like him. This story leaves you wondering what is going to happen in the next story so I was glad I had it to read.

A stunning young reader book that's perfect for fans of the not quite ordinary!
I'm not going to lie, I've bought the whole of this series without having even read the blurb purely based on the beautiful cover and sprayed edges, and the fact that I love Laura Ellen Anderson's illustrations. So, I figured that it was about time that I read book one, and luckily I loved it!In the Amelia Fang series, we follow the title character, a cute little vampire, and her friends in Nocturnia, where all things glittery and unicorn related are terrifying but blood and darkness are not! In book one, we are introduced to a whole host of brilliant characters from Amelia Fang to her pet pumpkin Squashy (he is so adorable!) as their world is turned upside down by the arrival of the spoilt Prince Tangine. However, all is not as it seems...I adored this first book which really sets the scene for the series and makes you want to find out more. It is a very unique take on the cuteness of young reader books with the focus being on less traditional creatures for this age range. I would definitely recommend it, and can't wait to move on to book two!

Toe Jam, Crispy Honey Maggots or Worms on Toast, anyone???
A grotesquely great book! Get ready to meet Amelia Fang-A vampire, Florence Spudwick-A rare breed of Yeti, Grimaldi Reaperton- Junior Grimreaper and a host of wonderfully imagined characters on an adventure that could only take place in the dead dark of the night...Amelia Fang needs to save her bouncing pumpkin pet Squashy from the palace of the spoilt-sprout ,Prince Tangine. How she does it and how she teaches the Prince a valuable lesson manners, friendship and acceptance is the main thrust of the book. This is a gorgeous book full of adventure, friendships, secrets, disgusting food, monsters, a well mannered ghost butler and ghouls...The book is extremely eye-catching, I love the cover, the black, grey and white artwork with the orange foil details looks absolutely scrumptious!!!The introductory pages showing the map of Nocturnia and drawings of all the characters with their likes and dislikes is brilliant! The book is enjoyable to read, it’s basically charming and disgusting in equal measures! I thoroughly enjoyed it.I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading Amelia Fang & The Unicorn Lords and Amelia Fang & The Memory Thief.5⭐️ + 2⭐️ For the gorgeous artwork. My only one issue has nothing to do with the actual book so that is why it does not retract from the 5⭐️ review, It’s just that the copy that I received has the pages falling out so will be sending it back for a replacement copy.

highly recommend this book
This was a huge hit with my children. We struggle to find books they will read themselves. I started reading it aloud and the children begged me to keep reading and when i had to put the book down, I came back 10 mins later and found the older one reading aloud to her brother. Also, my son was initially not interested in the book as it had a female lead (something we're trying to address), but he was captivated by the story from page 1. Highly, highly recommend this book. It's great.

Fantasic book with great pictures and laugh out load moments.
I have a 9 year old autistic son who has the mental age of 3.. He can not read.. Getting him into books is really hard... He loves anything to do with halloween and monsters so coming across amelia fang was soo great.. My son loves me reading them to him.. We do a chapter a night and he has to keep the book under his pillow. These books have really brought us together and given us mother and son reading time... Will have the whole collection very soon and be reading them for years to come...

Funny, gothic and full of adventure!
I’ve completely fallen in love with the land of Nocturnia! I’ve been reading this to my daughter, but she started reading it to herself and got ahead of me. I was so involved in the story, that I didn’t want to miss out! We can’t wait to get started on the second book! Funny, gothic and full of adventure!
