Has survived whacking hard skinned vegetables
So far this has been great. I asked for it for Christmas as I was having difficult cutting into pumpkins that I have been storing with skins that had become hard. So far I have managed to whack and cut the pumpkin into wedges which has been better than the last cleaver I had.It has a good weight to it and comfortable handle.I haven't given five stars yet as I haven't sharpened it yet to comment on that.

Love all our Wusthof knives
Love all our Wusthof knives. This was the obvious addition to our collection. Only small gripe. The red Wusthof label falls off after a few months of cleaning. You might as well be able to keep the designer label at this price!

The cleaver feels sturdy, but...
I already own a few Wüsthof knives, so I may rate their average quality, which, according to me, is high. (They are 5 *).I just opened the cleaver box (received today) and to my total surprise there remains a constant and huge burr ("Grate" in German, if I got it right) all along the cutting edge, which is expected to be sharp...I perfectly understand that a cleaver shouldn't be sharpened like, say, a Chef knife, but leaving a big burr on it is total nonsense. It should be sharpened at an adequate angle, most likely higher than the usual 14° per side (standard with Wüsthof), just because this is a heavy duty tool (bone cutting can damage a blade sharpened at too high an angle), but there is no reason on earth why to leave a burr on it.Well, I'm lucky enough I know how to sharpen knives, including deburring ("Entgraten"), otherwise I would have had to send it back.Hence 3 stars, as I expected a "ready-to-use" knife, not one I would have to finish up myself.

Brilliant and a really good pick to have in your kitchen
I do love it and even love the fact it was sharpened a bit which isn't that common with cleavers. The only thing that didn't go perfect was that the blade could've been properly finished on the sharpening as it came with an annoying burr that stood out as soon as I washed and how fast it started pulling on the cloth I used to clean it.I'll need to work it out when I have a bit with a stone and a strop, but even without those, it was good and ready to go as it arrived.
